A 16-year-old boy was mowed down by a private bus on Hennur–Bagalur Main Road in northern Bengaluru on Friday, the police said.
The deceased has been identified as Varun. Police have detained the accused, identified as Imran Khan, 38. The incident occurred at around 11.30 a.m. on Friday.
According to the police, Varun was crossing the road near Geddalahalli when Khan, who was driving from the Hennur side, crashed into him. The rear wheel of the private bus ran over Varun’s chest, resulting in his death on the spot. The police have booked Khan under the relevant BNS section dealing with reckless driving and are investigating the case.
A preliminary probe suggests that Khan was speeding. However, the police are verifying the circumstances using CCTV footage from the area.
