The Telangana Police has introduced a welfare measure allowing personnel to avail leave on their birthdays and wedding anniversaries.

In an order issued on Monday (April 27), Director General of Police B. Shivadhar Reddy said the initiative aims to improve morale and personal well-being of police personnel, recognising the demanding nature of policing and the personal sacrifices involved.

The order states that all personnel, irrespective of rank, may be granted leave on these two occasions to enable them to spend time with their families and maintain a better work-life balance.

Unit officers have been directed to grant leave on such requests except in extraordinary circumstances. The order clarifies that the provision is not a matter of right and may be denied only if there are compelling reasons.

Leave will be sanctioned based on valid proof as per service records and only upon prior written request by the individual.
