he first round of the French presidential election will take place in a year. That prospect is still too distant to allow for firm predictions or in-depth analysis of voting intentions. At this stage, with no certainty about the political landscape in spring 2027, presidential polls only serve to fuel competition among those vying for their party's nomination.

But, 12 months ahead of the vote, in-depth surveys such as the one conducted by Ipsos BVA-CESI Ecole d'Ingénieurs for Le Monde, the CEVIPOF and the Jean Jaurès Foundation already shed light on the hopes and tensions within public opinion: In a large sample of more than 10,000 French people, the respondents demonstrated a clear-sighted view of their country's condition, an awareness of the significance of the 2027 election and an eagerness to express themselves democratically.
