Two out of three Italians will have their Easter Sunday meal at home this year as the risk of price increases slows consumption amid the Iran war, retail group Confesercenti said Friday.
"67% are celebrating at home, 11% at a restaurant.
Lunch is not being cut, but travel and gifts are being reduced", said an Ipsos survey for Confesercenti outlining an "Easter burdened by high energy prices, balancing domestic tradition with prudent consumption.
"We won't be giving up on food, but the holiday will still be marked by an economic climate that continues to influence consumer choices and push families to carefully manage their budgets.
"The average expected spending on food for Easter is 49 euros per person, with significant regional differences: from 61 euros in Southern Italy to 38 euros in the North.
