A 23-year-old man died after reportedly suffering chest pain while trekking on the fifth hill of Vellingiri Hills in Coimbatore in the early hours of Friday.
The deceased was identified as Mukesh Kumar (23), son of Suresh, a native of Perumal Kovil Veedhi in Peedamneri, Dharmapuri. He was staying in Telungupalayam.
According to sources, Mukesh had gone trekking along with his friends, including Abi and Mahendran, on Thursday night. The group began the climb from the foothills near Poondi Vellingiri Andavar Temple at around 10 p.m.
At around 2 a.m., while they were on the fifth hill, Mukesh complained of chest pain and collapsed. He died on the spot.
With the help of dolly bearers, his body is being brought down from the hill. Further details are awaited.
