Madurai District Police have registered a case against an AIADMK functionary who violated the Model Code of Conduct in Kallanai village here on Wednesday.
A press statement said that the police received information that after election campaigning had concluded in Kallanai village, I. Arivazhagan, 52, the AIADMK branch secretary residing in the same village, had distributed money to persons who took ‘Aarti.’
As it was in violation of the Model Code of Conduct, a case was registered against Arivazhagan at the Alanganallur Police Station.
The case is currently under investigation.
It is to be noted that a total of 32 teams—comprising 16 SST (Static Surveillance Teams) and 16 FST (Flying Squads)—have been formed to work 24x7 in three shifts to curb election-related offenses through intensive vehicle checks and monitoring in all areas.
