Aavin has shifted the renewal of monthly milk cards to an app-based system from April 2026 in Coimbatore. Customers are required to download the Aavin CBE mobile application and place orders for the following month through the customer portal.
The transition has led to disruption, with several customers stating that the change was introduced without prior notice. Many who visited booths on Wednesday for routine collection were turned away, as agents supplied milk only to those who had completed bookings through the app.
Customers said the sudden shift has caused inconvenience, particularly for those unfamiliar with digital platforms. A customer from Vadavalli said people arrived as usual to collect milk but were unable to do so due to the new requirement.
Keshavan Raj, an Aavin agent, said agents were instructed to issue milk packets only based on the booking list generated through the application. “We receive the monthly list through the agents’ section in the app. Without that, we cannot supply packets. Distribution has been aligned with the booked quantity,” he said.
A senior official said the system was introduced to streamline the process, regulate crowding at booths, and prevent misuse through duplicate cards by commercial outlets under the manual system. He said initial technical issues had been resolved and that over 3,000 card holders had completed bookings through the app.
