A tragic incident that occurred in Laxmidevipeta, Anakapalli, during the early hours of Monday (March 30, 2026) when a 75-year-old man, Rebaka Ramarao, was killed when the air conditioner in his room reportedly exploded, according to police.The blast took place around 4 a.m. while Ramarao was asleep in his room. His wife and other family members, who were sleeping in an adjacent room, were jolted by the deafening sound and managed to run out of the house just in time, averting a potentially larger casualty.Local residents and police arrived at the scene shortly after the explosion to find that Ramarao had already died reportedly due to the impact of the blast.Initial investigations suggest that the explosion may have been caused due to a technical failure or a short circuit within the AC unit.Police and electricity authorities reached the spot to inspect the premises to determine the exact cause of the malfunction.
