Two persons drowned in River Cauvery in this district on Sunday evening.
According to the police, on Sunday afternoon, G. Govindaraj (29), R. Duraimurugan (26) and J. Mohankumar (29) of Nainampatti near Attaiyampatti in Salem, went to Jedarpalayam near Paramathi Velur in the district and took a bath in the Cauvery. At that time, Duraimurugan and Govindaraj went into the deeper part of the river and drowned. Mohankumar raised alarm and locals tried to rescue them, but failed.
