Parts of Hyderabad witnessed light to moderate rainfall on Monday evening, March 16, offering brief relief from the high temperatures that have persisted across Telangana since the beginning of the month. The rain began around 7.30 p.m. as a light drizzle before gradually intensifying to moderate showers. The sudden change in weather caught many commuters off guard, particularly as it occurred during the evening rush hour when office-goers were returning home.According to data from the Telangana Development Planning Society (TGDPS), as of 8 p.m, Yousufguda recorded a rainfall of 3.3 mm followed by 2.8 mm in Fathenagar, 2.5 mm in Bowenpally, 2.5 mm in Alwal and 2 mm in Trimulgherry.Several areas across the city, including Ameerpet, Begumpet, Secunderabad, Uppal, Nampally, Khairatabad, Banjara Hills and parts of Jubilee Hills experienced a combination of rainfall and lightning. The unexpected showers disrupted evening commutes, with many pedestrians and motorists seen pausing their journeys to take shelter.Commuters gathered at bus stops, roadside shops and beneath Metro stations and pillars to avoid the rain. While some residents had stepped out carrying umbrellas to shield themselves from the heat earlier in the day, the same umbrellas proved useful in protecting them from the sudden showers.
