With the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) coming into force in the State following the announcement of poll by Election Commission of India (ECI), Dindigul District Collector-cum-Election Officer S. Saravanan said that the poll staff shall handle the senior citizens and womenfolk with dignity.
Speaking with the poll officials drawn from multiple departments, he said that the district has many tourist spots. Public from various States visited the places in and around Dindigul district. Hence, he appealed to the poll staff to handle them with dignity while discharging their duties.
The ECI guidelines shall be in force with immediate effect and all the staff, who have been entrusted with the specific tasks shall enforce them. For instance, people visiting Kodaikanal from far away places may not be aware of certain ground realities. The officials should explain properly and be polite in handling such incidents.
Flagging off the vehicles which included flying squad teams and video squad teams, he urged them to follow the ECI guidelines. In the event of any seizure of valuables, which do not carry valid documents, the officials shall make note of them in the proper mobile application and ensure that there was transparency.
