Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani said Tuesday that the government was continuing to fly back Italians stranded in the Middle East due to the Iran war after a first charter flight from Muscat, Oman, brought home 127 Italian citizens on Monday.
"We are working tirelessly to assist our fellow Italian citizens stranded in the Middle East," Tajani said in a statement.
"We are facilitating some repatriation flights for Italian citizens from the Middle East region to respond to the ongoing emergency together with the Italian embassies in the region and in collaboration with local authorities".
The foreign ministry said two flights were bringing around 300 people from Muscat to Rome's Fiumicino airport on Tuesday.
It said another 200 people were coming back on a flight from Abu Dhabi to Milan, including pupils, most of whom are minors, who had been taking part in the World Students' Connection Dubai.
