The exit of former paratroop general and bestselling anti-woke author Roberto Vannacci from the League to head his own new far-right party is a closed chapter and the ruling right-wing party is stronger for it, leader Matteo Salvini said Wednesday.
"For me, the chapter is closed," said the deputy premier and transport minister a day after the controversial far-right figure quit to lead his nascent National Future outfit.
"I've had a League membership card since '91; I've seen many who haven't kept their word.
"For Vannacci, I'm sorry, on a human level, but it doesn't worry me.
"After a while, it passes.
