A grand jury has indicted a Chicago surgeon accused of killing his ex-wife and her new husband in Ohio on five charges.
Michael David McKee, 39, was indicted on Friday, Jan. 16, on four aggravated murder counts and one aggravated burglary charge, according to the indictment, which accuses the surgeon of using a muffler during the shooting.
If convicted, he faces a minimum sentence of life in prison with parole eligibility after 32 years.
McKee is charged with killing Spencer and Monique Tepe, who were found shot dead in their Columbus, Ohio home on Dec. 30. Their 1- and 4-year-old children were in the home and crying but were physically unharmed, as was the couple's dog.
McKee was arrested in the Chicago area 11 days after the middle-of-the-night attack and remains jailed there as he awaits extradition to his home state of Ohio. His attorney has said he will plead not guilty to the charges once he's extradited to Ohio and will remain silent.
