Less than two years after saying “I do” on his wedding day, Michael David McKee’s marriage was over.
The high-achieving vascular surgeon, who most recently lived in Chicago, had wed Monique Sabaturski in his home state of Ohio on Aug. 22, 2015. They got divorced in May 2017, according to court records reviewed by USA TODAY.
Now McKee is being charged with murder in the shooting deaths of both Michelle and her second husband of nearly five years.
In a case that has captured national headlines for its heart-wrenching details, Spencer Tepe and Monique Tepe (formerly Sabaturski) were found shot dead in their home in Columbus, Ohio, on Dec. 30. The killings came just five days after Christmas and happened as their young children slept nearby.
When Columbus police announced the Tepes had been killed, they initially provided no details about who might be responsible or what the motive might be, sending fear throughout the community.
