The death of Cuban detainee Geraldo Lunas Campos at an Immigration and Customs Enforcement detention center in Texas earlier this month will likely be declared a homicide, El Paso County’s Office of the Medical Examiner told his daughter this week, according to The Washington Post.

An employee for the medical examiner's office said a doctor there "is listing the preliminary cause of death as asphyxia due to neck and chest compression."

"Our doctor is believing that we’re going to be listing the manner of death as homicide," the employee told Lunas Campos' daughter, according to a recording of their conversation obtained by the Post.
