The Department of Homeland Security quickly moved to deport two men in ICE detention who offered a differing account of a fellow detainee's death while in custody, The Washington Post reported.

The federal government initially did not give a cause of death for Geraldo Lunas Campos. They later said he was attempting suicide when guards intervened. He died on Jan. 3 in a Texas immigration detention facility.

Detainees Santos Jesus Flores and Antonio Ascon Frometa said in phone interviews with The Washington Post that they saw a struggle with the guards. Flores said Campos was choked to death.
