“Daily Show” correspondent Ronny Chieng on Wednesday criticized the Trump administration for “mugging” Venezuela for its oil resources following the deadly U.S. military raid last weekend and sowing a narrative of spreading freedom to justify it.

“That’s right. Trump is stinking up the joint with freedom! Can you smell it?” he asked.

Chieng noted that America would totally get of Venezuela’s hair after the operation to seize Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, by force in the middle of the night.

“Goodbye forever, Venezuela. You’re finally free!” he declared.

Then, Chieng tossed to news reports that showed how the Trump administration had imposed a military blockade on Venezuela’s oil exports to pressure the interim government that it put in power to meet its demands: that the country partner exclusively with the U.S. on oil, and kick out officials from China, Russia, Iran and Cuba.
