“Daily Show” correspondent Josh Johnson on Wednesday ripped Donald Trump’s “semblance of an explanation” for why he pardoned ex-Honduran President Juan Orlando Hernández, who was convicted last year of helping smuggle 400 tons of cocaine into the U.S.

Trump, whose pardon left critics confused amid his administration’s crackdown on drug trafficking in the U.S. and abroad, initially told a reporter on Sunday that he didn’t know who she meant when asked about pardoning a “notorious drug trafficker.”

“You know you’ve been pardoning too many people when you’re like, ‘I’m sorry, which notorious drug lord are we talking about? At least give me the first letter, or we’ll be here all night!’” Johnson quipped.

After seemingly tying Hernández’s case to a “Biden administration setup” while offering no evidence to support such a claim, Trump attempted to clarify his decision to reporters further.

“You take any country you want. If somebody sells drugs in that country, that doesn’t mean you arrest the president and put him in jail for the rest of his life,” Trump said. “And that includes this country, OK, to be honest. I mean, if somebody does something wrong, do you put the president of the country in jail?”
