The names of 79,690 voters have been removed from the draft electoral rolls in Karur district.
Of them, 9,846 were classified as absentees, 43,576 as migrated, and 23,829 deceased. A total of 2,296 double entries were removed. Out of four Assembly constituencies, Karur topped in the number of deletion of 24,071 names, followed by Aravakurichi with 22,315 names. The number was 17,232 in Krishnarayapuram and 16,012 in Kulithalai constituency.
According to the draft electoral rolls, released on Friday after the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), there are 8,18,672 voters in the district. The number of voters, who figured in the lists before the SIR, stood at 8,98,362.
After the SIR drive, Karur constituency has 2,16,777 voters and Aravakurichi has 1,89,697 voters. It is 1,96,751 voters in Krishnarayapuram constituency and 2,15,447 in Kulithalai constituency.
