A two-month-old baby was rescued from a transgender person who brought the child to the Government Hospital in Tiruvallur to treat the ill infant. Doctors examined the infant and upon questioning, the transgender person gave evasive replies. The Doctors alerted the Child Welfare Committee (CWC). A preliminary police investigation revealed that the baby had been bought for ₹3 lakh from a couple in Andhra Pradesh with the help of a relative. The child has been sent to a shelter for safe custody.
