The baby boy rescued from a recently uncovered illegal surrogacy and baby-selling racket in Hyderabad has been placed under State care at a Shishu Vihar facility, according to the Department of Women and Child Welfare. Officials said the infant will undergo routine medical examination while authorities await further directions regarding his custody and care.

The child was rescued after the North Zone police busted a trafficking racket disguised as fertility treatment services. The case came to light following a complaint lodged at Gopalapuram police station by a couple who had approached Universal Srushti Fertility Centres in Hyderabad last August seeking IVF treatment. After initial consultations, the couple were referred to the clinic’s Visakhapatnam branch, where embryo implantation procedures were allegedly carried out.
