A 35-year-old woman allegedly ended her life by consuming pesticide after reportedly being unable to bear sexual harassment by a youth at Komaravolu village in Krishna district.

According to the police, the accused, M. Pavan, was allegedly harassing M. Vasantha for the last few days. Unable to bear the harassment, Vasantha, consumed pesticide on Friday. She died while undergoing treatment at Gudivada Area Government Hospital, Pamarru Circle Inspector V. Subhakar told The Hindu on Saturday.

Following a complaint, the Pamarru police registered a case and took up investigation. The victim is survived by her husband and two children, the CI said.

Meanwhile, family members of the victim staged a dharna on Pamarru-Gudivada road on Saturday, demanding the arrest of the accused in the case. (Persons having suicidal thoughts or in depression may ‘Dial 100’ for assistance).
