With 17 faculty members listed among the world’s top 2% scientists in Scopus 2025 database released by Stanford/Elsevier, Bharathiar University ranks first among State varsities in Tamil Nadu with the distinction.The BU, notably, had the highest number of faculty members in the list to lead the rest of the State varsities in the previous years: 14 in 2020, 15 in 2021, 17 in 2022 and 2023 as well, and 18 in 2024.The BU faculty in the 2025 Scopus database comprise R. Field- and subfield-specific percentiles are also provided for all scientists with at least five papers.The selection metric—the composite indicator (c-score)—accounts for the number of citations, co-authorship adjustments, and authorship positions, focusing on meaningful impact rather than just productivity.Till date, a total number of 28 patents have been granted to the BU. The university is credited with 172 h-index, publication of 16 patents, 22,157 publications in Scopus, and 329693 citations.
