Bharathiar University in the city has seen a decline in the NIRF 2025 rankings, according to a data released by the Ministry of Education on Thursday (September 4, 2025). In the overall India ranking, the university moved to 76th place from 44th last year, while in the overall university ranking, it slipped to 46th from 26th. In the State public university category, it was placed 10th, down from 8th in 2024.
In the overall India college rankings, Coimbatore institutions secured the following positions: PSGR Krishnammal College for Women: 9th, PSG College of Arts and Science: 10th, Sri Krishna Arts and Science College: 50th, Dr. NGP Arts and Science College: 66th, Government Arts College, Coimbatore: 68th, Sri Ramakrishna College of Arts and Science: 76th, and Sri Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya College of Arts and Science: 94th.
