Agroup of young Italian physicists were among the winners of the 2025 Ig Nobel Prize for a study they did on Cacio e Pepe pasta sauce along with colleagues from Spain, Germany and Austria.

Giacomo Bartolucci, Daniel Maria Busiello, Matteo Ciarchi, Alberto Corticelli, Ivan Di Terlizzi and Fabrizio Olmeda were part of the team that won the famous 'weird-science' award for "discoveries about the physics of pasta sauce, especially the phase transition that can lead to clumping, which can be a cause of unpleasantness".

The Ig Nobel Prizes seek to honor achievements that make people laugh, then think, in order celebrate the unusual and spur interest in science, medicine, and technology.
