After a local row, the Italian Ministry of Culture said Thursday it is also trying to shed light on the issue of Florence's "black cube," a controversial ultramodern building constructed on the site of the former Teatro Comunale in the historic center.

Minsietrail sources said they intend to verify, within the ministry's jurisdiction, the procedures followed to issue the permits that authorized the construction work.

The Ministry of Culture, which oversees the Superintendency that issued the authorizations, has requested a detailed report to shed light on the procedural process after the Florence prosecutor's office opened an exploratory investigation into the matter, currently without any suspects.
