A labourer was killed in a road accident even as he was returning home with a cake to celebrate his son’s birthday on Tuesday night.

Police said labourer Dinakaran Aruputharaj, 44, of Deivanayagaperi near Kalakkad was returning home from Kalakkad on his bike after buying cake for celebrating his son’s birthday. When he was crossing Neduvilai, an oncoming lorry hit his two-wheeler killing him on the spot.
