Two lorry drivers were killed in a road accident on Mullavadi Main Road near Kalavai town in Ranipet.
The deceased persons were identified as P. Arun Kumar, 23, a native of Arcot town, and E. Naresh, 25, a resident of Cheyyar. Initial inquiry revealed that Arun Kumar was driving a lorry from Cheyyar to Ranipet when he suddenly lost control of the vehicle and hit a tipper lorry, which was coming in the opposite direction.
The police said that from the impact, drivers in two lorries were killed. Based on alerts from motorists, Kalavai police rushed to the spot. Bodies were sent to Government Medical College Hospital in Vellore for postmortem. Mangled vehicles were removed from the carriageway to restore traffic flow on the route. A case was registered. A probe is under way.
