Census: President Trump said on Thursday that he told the Commerce Department to begin work on a new census that does not include people who are in the United States illegally. Putin of Russia has agreed to meet with Mr. Trump “in the coming days,” a top Kremlin aide said on Thursday, as Mr. Trump pushes for an end to the war in Ukraine. Many Ukrainians said they doubted that a Trump-Putin summit would lead to an acceptable peace proposal. For Mr. Putin, a meeting could be crucial to securing his war aims.
