Italy has registered its eighth victim of West Nile Virus this year after a 72-year-old man died of the disease in a Caserta hospital on Wednesday.
The disease, which is spread by mosquitoes, has claimed three other lives in the southern region of Campania, while Lazio, the region Rome belongs to, has recorded three West Nile deaths over the last few weeks and a person died of it in Piedmont some months ago.
