Asecond person has died of West Nile Virus in Campania, daily newspapers il Mattino and il Messaggero reported on Tuesday.

The southern region registered its first deadly West Nile case on Monday when an 80-year-old man died in hospital in Caserta.

Two people have also died of the disease, which is spread by mosquitoes, in Lazio, following the outbreak of a cluster of cases in the province of Latina, which is between Rome and Naples.

The second Naples case regarded a 74-year-old man who died in a Naples hospital on Friday, according to the reports.

All four victims reportedly suffered from concurrent conditions.
