India builds consensus in fractured world: PM Modi announces adoption of Delhi Declaration | BRICS

India successfully built consensus among BRICS members as the grouping adopted the New Delhi Declaration at the 18th BRICS Summit. Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the joint declaration after negotiations over the West Asia crisis, including differences between Iran and the UAE. The declaration condemns unilateral aggression without naming any country. Modi said the changing world cannot be steered by outdated institutions and called for reforms in representation, responsiveness and rule-making, while stressing equal participation for the Global South in shaping future technologies and their rules.
