The infamous ‘Revenge Dress’, interpreted as having been worn by Diana "in revenge" for the televised admission of adultery by then-Prince Charles, is going up for auction for the first time since 1997. Part of the proceeds from the sale will be donated to NHS Lothian Charity.

Princess Diana's "revenge dress," which she wore to a Serpentine Gallery fundraiser in 1994, will be auctioned by Sotheby's New York on Dec. 9.

Worn by Diana, Princess of Wales to an event at London 's Serpentine Gallery in June 1994, her little black dress didn't merely set a trend - it inspired a whole genre.

The dress is estimated to sell for between £110,000 and £220,000

Its estimated worth? Somewhere between $150,000 and $300,000.
