Trump envoys set for fresh peace talks with Putin and Zelensky

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov issued a warning to Donald Trump, stating that any peace deal must account for the realities on the ground which he claimed were not developing in Ukraine's favour. Russia launched fresh overnight drone and missile attacks across Ukraine, killing at least five people, despite President Zelensky proposing a temporary reciprocal air truce during the US diplomatic visits. Ukrainian presidential aide Pavlo Palisa warned that intelligence suggests Russia is formulating scenarios for a new offensive towards Kyiv and Chernihiv, though no new troop groupings have yet been detected. Ukraine is facing a £19.7bn defence funding shortfall this year, leading President Zelensky to request that the European Union frontload its planned support loan to maintain military purchases and social support.
