HMRC data shows 240 people reported more than £1 million ($1.36 million) each in crypto gains as UK tax scrutiny intensifies.

Capital gains tax receipts totalled £24.2 billion in the 2024-25 tax year, an 89% increase on the year before, HMRC said.

Taxpayers declared $18.75 billion in total crypto disposals, yielding an average profit of $106,000 per person across 17,600 individual tax filers.
