More than 200 British crypto investors are now millionaires, according to the taxman.
Fresh figures from HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) have revealed that 240 investors booked capital gains of more than £1million in the last tax year, accounting for £717million of gains.
The total taxable capital gains from cryptoassets were £1.38billion in the year to April 2025 with the gains split across 17,600 individuals.
This represents an average gain of £78,000 reported per person.
This is the first time such data has been published after a new self-assessment tax return section on cryptoasset capital gains was introduced for the 2024/2025 tax year.
