Millions of Europeans will contemplate the sky in awe on Wednesday as a rare total solar eclipse crosses part of the continent and plunges a swathe of Spain into eerie daytime darkness.

Spain, Iceland and Greenland will see totality as the sun, moon and Earth align near sunset; an even longer eclipse in 2027 will also be visible from Israel

The total solar eclipse on August 12, 2026, will be visible from Greenland, Iceland, and Spain, while Europe will witness a striking partial eclipse.
