Israel has rejected US President Donald Trump’s 15-point plan for Gaza, with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu saying Israeli forces will remain occupying the territory until Hamas gives up its weapons. Netanyahu announced the decision during an Israeli cabinet meeting on Sunday, 9 August, placing Israel at odds with a roadmap promoted by the US-led Board of Peace.

Netanyahu's comments come just over a week after President Trump said his Board of Peace had reached a "historic" agreement with Hamas to give up its weapons.

Prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the Israeli military would not withdraw from the Palestinian enclave until Hamas fully disarms.
