Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu formally rejected President Donald Trump’s 15-point peace plan for Gaza during a cabinet meeting on August 9, telling ministers that Israel would not withdraw its forces under the current framework.
“Israel rejects the 15-point document,” Netanyahu declared, making clear that IDF troops would maintain their current positions in Gaza until Hamas is fully disarmed.
A plan without a partner
The proposal, dubbed the “Board of Peace” plan, had actually gained an unlikely endorser. Hamas signed on in July 2026, backing the framework as a pathway toward a ceasefire and eventual reconstruction of Gaza.
In the days leading up to Netanyahu’s formal announcement, reports had already surfaced indicating Israeli resistance to the US-backed roadmap. The cabinet meeting simply made it official.
