The August Solar Eclipse is just the start of an exciting month for skywatchers. Soon after the eclipse, the Perseid meteor shower reaches its peak on the nights of August 12 and 13, offering another spectacular celestial display. Widely regarded as one of the year's best meteor showers, the Perseids typically produce around 50 meteors per hour, while observers under exceptionally dark skies may witness 60 to 100 meteors an hour.

Perseid meteor shower will peak on the same day as the Sun is covered by the Moon

August will feature three major astronomical events, including the first total solar eclipse visible anywhere in the world since 2024.
