These new guidelines strengthen previous recommendations, which suggested six to 12 games for aggravated breaches of discriminatory conduct. Discriminatory misconduct is defined as any express or implied reference to characteristics such as ethnic origin, colour, race, nationality, religion, sex, gender, gender reassignment, sexual orientation, or disability. The FA stated that these enhanced measures are necessary to tackle persistent discriminatory conduct across the game, reaffirming its commitment to a discrimination-free environment. While the standard ban is 10 matches, sanctions can exceed this for significant aggravating factors, or be reduced to a minimum of six matches with mitigating factors and early admission, with repeat offenders facing stronger penalties.
