Prime Minister Mark Carney on Tuesday said that US President Donald Trump's decision to impose fresh 50% tariffs on select Canadian goods is a "direct violation" of the Canada-United States-Mexico Agreement (CUSMA).

President Trump took executive action to impose 50% tariffs on a wide range of imports from Canada.

The move is the latest trade escalation between the US and its northern neighbor under the Trump administration.
