After three days in which British authorities suggested there was no information suggesting a political or terroristic motive to last week's killing of longtime MP Ann Widdecombe, it was revealed Monday that the top counterterrorism unit is low leading the investigation.

The death has renewed unease about the safety of Britain’s politicians, after two others were killed in the last decade.

Home Affairs Minister Shabana Mahmood confirmed on Monday that there were reasons to believe there was a terrorist motive to the alleged crime.
