The US military conducted a new wave of strikes against Iran on Tuesday and revoked a licence permitting Tehran to sell oil, after three tankers were reportedly hit by projectiles in the Strait of Hormuz. Qatar accused Iran of attacking its LNG tanker, the Al Rekayyat, in the Strait of Hormuz, which sustained a fire in its engine room, while Iran denied responsibility for the vessel strikes. In retaliation for the US strikes, Iran launched attacks on key US bases in Bahrain and Kuwait, with the IRGC claiming to have targeted 85 facilities and a reaper drone. These escalating hostilities, including the US withdrawal of the oil concession which led to a more than 3 per cent rise in oil prices, jeopardise a ceasefire agreement signed in June aimed at a final resolution.
