Around 200 Labour MPs crowded into Westminster Hall to greet Andy Burnham as he was sworn in as the new MP for Makerfield, while inside Downing Street, Keir Starmer gave a private speech to staff.

Keir Starmer is facing renewed calls to quit from within his own cabinet, after Andy Burnham stormed to victory in Makerfield.

The Makerfield MP will be sworn in as an MP next week, and plans to speak with the Prime Minister to demand he set out a timetable for his departure from Downing Street
