Sen. Bernie Sanders announced legislation Thursday that would give the public $1,000 annually for a 50% stake in the largest AI firms in the country.

Sen. Bernie Sanders is proposing a plan to give Americans ownership stakes in the country’s largest artificial intelligence companies.

The Vermont senator wants to create an AI sovereign wealth fund—with an annual public payout.

The stake would be acquired through a tax on AI companies, paid through the issuing of new stock.
