Shares of HCL Technologies rose nearly 4 per cent on Tuesday after the IT services major announced a ₹1,427.25 crore investment in Sarvam AI, marking what analysts described as a strategic bet on the emerging sovereign artificial intelligence (AI) opportunity.

Sarvam raised $234m led by HCLTech ($150m) at a $1.5bn valuation, making the Bengaluru sovereign-AI company India's newest AI unicorn.

Bessemer Venture Partners, and existing investors Khosla Ventures and Peak XV Partners also participated in the round that values Sarvam at $1.5 billion.
