Nipah virus confirmed in Kozhikode; patient critical, 77 contacts traced, 15 high-risk people quarantined

KOZHIKODE: Authorities intensified containment measures in Kozhikode after National Institute of Virology (NIV), Pune, confirmed Nipah virus infection in the 43year-old patient from Ramanattukara, who is now on ventilator support. He is undergoing treatment at the intensive care unit of Kozhikode Medical College where his condition remains critical.
