Iran and Israel said on June 8 that hostilities between them had halted, after the two countries exchanged strikes that threatened to reignite the Middle East war.

Monday’s strikes by both Iran and Israel are the most serious escalation in the conflict since the ceasefire between the U.S.-Israel side and Iran went into effect in April.

Israel said on June 8 it had struck targets across Iran, defying U.S. President Donald Trump's call to refrain from retaliating against Tehran's barrage of missiles.
